Title: Halfway to the Grave
Author: Jeaniene Frost
Published: 2007
Synopsis from Goodreads

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.

In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner—are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Dear Tv Big WIGS,

You know how the teeny boppers have their Vampire
Diaries? And you know how you gave us Moonlight then you took it away? Then you
gave us True Blood just to keep us quiet (thank you for that lolz).... Well, my
big shot pets, I have found your next big hit. Meet Kat! She's a half
vampire/human girl bent on ridding the world of those icky wicky blood suckers.
I know I know! Sounds a bit like a girly Blade, aye? Well it gets better. Just
like Blade how he has that dude that helps him. How old is that dude? Like 100?
LMAO!! Well, Kat has a delicious hunk of English Vampire Man Meat helping her
out. WHAT? you ask.... that's right! She runs into a broody that's a bounty
hunter who wants to rid the world of the bad vamps. And mingled in we have Kat
falling in love, hiding her broody from her Bible thumping grandparents, a
mother who is very anti-fang, and just a whole bunch of lovely episodes. Trust
me... you want to pick this up!

With love,
GRETA

Alright my pretty pretty girlies!! This book was fangtastic!! I actually think I enjoyed it more than Sookie. (quit gasping lolz) It was so RAWR and awesome!! I really really dug BONES! Omg spank me!! A blonde English crumpet with fangs. Nom nom nom!!! Wrap him up, I'll take him to go.

I wasn't too sure if I was going to dig this book or not. I've had it on hold at my library ever since
AH was talking about it. Then I think Danny read it... and I was STILL on hold for it. I was like ... COME ON LIBRARY!! I guess every housewife in the Birmingham Area wanted a piece of Bones. And who can blame them? I swear on my Halloween Candy he's worth the long wait. Nom nom nom!!

The main reason I was leery about this book was because it's one of those... what do you call it?... Urban Fantasy type books. I found out that I'm really not into the chick bad ass and her life of fighting crime. Well, this book changed my mind. I do dig that as long as it's done like this. Kat wasn't overly macho and didn't cuss too much for my virgin ears. She didn't try to go all GRAPE APE on everything. She was really down to earth. Sure, she knew how to stake a vamp and could run 40 miles in one night (uhhhhh....) but as long as Bones was chasing her then I was a happy girl full of squee.

I totally recommend this book to anyone who wants a good vampy poo story that has a bit of bite to it.

2 fangs way up!!

  1. Great review! This is one of my FAV series. Mainly because of Bones. But hey, can you blame me? :) Glad you liked it though! But...just for the record, Bones is already mine. ;)

P.S. You've GOT to read the next one, One Foot In The Grave, ASAP. There is a chapter...Ch.32. It is just...well it's just sexy-rific. Mmmm... :)
