Hunger: The Horsemen of the Apocalypse: The Rider's Quartet #1

Published: 2010
Synopsis taken from Goodreads
“Thou art the Black Rider. Go thee out unto the world.”

Lisabeth Lewis has a black steed, a set of scales, and a new job: she’s been appointed Famine. How will an anorexic seventeen-year-old girl from the suburbs fare as one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?

Traveling the world on her steed gives Lisa freedom from her troubles at home: her constant battle with hunger, and her struggle to hide it from the people who care about her. But being Famine forces her to go places where hunger is a painful part of everyday life, and to face the horrifying effects of her phenomenal power. Can Lisa find a way to harness that power — and the courage to battle her own inner demons
This book was a brilliant idea. An anorexic girl wants to off herself when all of the sudden a dude dressed up like Kurt Cobin knocks on her window and asks her if she really wants to die. She's all like "What the duce?" And he's all like "No really? That what you want? Cuz I gotta bad ass job for you."

And that's how Lisa becomes a part of the Horsemen.

Now, I'm not really familiar with the Horsemen of the Apocalypse story but from what I figure it's about 4 traumatic things like war, death, famine, and this other one that starts with a "P" but I totally can't remember (book 3 everyone! hahahs) and they roam the world making loads of trouble till the world is just a dessert.

This wasn't the most well written book but its short and I super loved that. You can easily zip through it in two days (even with piles of laundry, a sink full of dishes, and crazy furball coughing cats - just like I did)

The idea of the book is brilliant and Death is done so fabulously that you want to keep reading just to see if he'll show back up the moment he poofs away.
