Synopsis borrowed from Goodreads:

Amber Reed is a dead girl walking.

Having just been turned by her gorgeous vampire boyfriend, eighteen-year-old Amber Reed is bestowed with the ability to see ghosts. Between trying to figure out how to control her bloodlust and solving the mysterious disappearance of a friend, Amber realizes someone wants to step into her shoes so badly, they’ll do anything to take her place.
When one secret after another pops up, the only person who believes her is her enemy, Devon. Amber can’t figure out if he’s here to help or save his own immortal race from losing the ancient war against the vampires. What she does know, however, is that she can’t resist his good looks just as much as she can’t help becoming someone else…

In a world of dark magic and ancient enemies, three powerful courts fight for supremacy, and Amber might just be the pawn in winning this war forever. But how’s a girl to survive when everyone wants her dead?

Darkfallen's thoughts:
This book was soooo good that it took me by surprise! It was a perfect mix of comedy, drama, action, teenage angst, and paranormal that I couldn't get enough of. Not to mention the fact that Jayde Scott always leaves you with a suspense filled cliffhanger at the end of every chapter leaving you not being able to put the book down!

To be honest I really didn't know what to expect when I picked this book up. First of all this is the 4th book in the series and I haven't read the previous books. Secondly I hadn't heard about this series or this author until I was asked to sign up for the blog tour and I am sooooo glad that I did! It was awesome in a light yet intense kind of way. Yes I know that's an oxymoron...just roll with it. *winks*

Amber is 18, she's also a vampire, and a necromancer. Not by choice though. She was happy to be your normal average human, that is, until her boyfriend Aiden's friend kills her and then her Aidens' brother turns her into a vampire...Yea not exactly the way you want to start your summer vacation huh? This book picks up as Amber is trying to stumble through her new life as a vampire necromancer. As if bloodlust isn't enough she also has these darn ghosts scarring the crap out of her, and it's not like she can turn to Aiden for help in that department because he isn't a necromancer and can't see the things that go bump in the night. He also doesn't suffer from the bloodlust anymore because of a spell.

One thing leads to another and the lies just keep piling up while Amber tries to help find Angel, a friend that was kidnapped. Will Amber be able to help find her friend or will the whole she has been digging herself into eventually swallow her up?

This was such a fun read. It had me laughing over and over again, while sitting on the edge of my seat at the same time. I love Amber and Aidens relationship. It wasn't all smooth and perfect. It had bumps in the road mostly because the town kept making it worse on each other like all teenagers do. I also loved how in the end they both learn the valuable lesson that not matter what lying to each other is the wrong thing to do. It was just so sweet.

Overall this is a book to revile Carrie Harris's Bad Taste In Boys and I enjoyed every minute of it!

  3. If my boyfriend's brother turned me? Depends on whether or not I wanted to be turned cause I doubt he changed me for my benefit. I might have to kill him either way. :D heh heh

  4. Firstly i would like to thank you for an apsolutely fantastic giveaway that looks utterly brilliant & a novel that i am defiantely adding to my to-read list in a hurry! Thank you. Xx
In response to your question the worst thing about it would be the lonliness, as even if i fell in love i would be immortal and they would not and so i would have to live for many years & years to come with a broken heart.

  11. Thanks for the giveaway!! =D
The worst thing? Well, I think it could be something like I couldn't see my family again and the fact that I couldn't go out in daylight (I love the daylight).

  12. I wonder why authors always create reluctant supernatural beings. I mean, yes, back then in 2000 and with Buffy and Angel it was new and shiny and great, but isn't it time for us to have a vampire who loves what he is? *grin*

  17. Hi, There is a limit to the phrase keeping it in the family. Just like dating rules you do not mess with family. Now I will be torn between them forever.

  18. Thanks for the giveaway girlies!! The worst thing would be the sun because I am a total sun lover! Summer is my favorite season!

  19. I think the worst thing about vamperism would probably be living to see everyone you love die before you. I imagine that a vampire would also struggle with their food choices, since there is something semi-cannibalistic about vampirism.

I didn't really want to enter the giveaway at first. It looked like just another tired Vampire YA. But your review made me want to give it a go. I'm still holding out for Vampires to regain their reputation in media and literature

  20. The worst thing would be the experience of being turned by somebody who isn't the one who should turn me.. well .. i would feel guilty....

a close second is my bloodlust and the difference of strengths of my past and my future. :D

    thanks for the giveaway!
