The thrilling conclusion to #1 bestselling Shiver trilogy from Maggie Stiefvater

then.

When Sam met Grace, he was a wolf and she was a girl. Eventually he found a way to become a boy, and their love moved from a curious distance to the intense closeness of shared lives.

now.

That should have been the end of their story. But Grace was not meant to stay human. Now she is the wolf. And the wolves of Mercy Falls are about to be killed in one final, spectacular hunt.

forever.

Sam would do anything for Grace. But can one boy and one love really change a hostile, predatory world? The past, the present, and the future are about to collide in one pure moment - a moment of death or life, farewell or forever.

Darkfallen's thoughts:
With ta-tings & jazz hands compliments of Greta!!

*~*~* WARNING IF YOU HAVE NOT READ SHIVER & LINGER DO NOT READ THIS!! THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST 2 BOOKS. HOWEVER I PROMISE THAT THIS IS A SPOILER FREE ZONE WHEN IT COMES TO FOREVER *~*~*

Darkfallen: Maggie won over my heart in Shiver. Shiver was my first werewolf read and I have never looked back.

Greta: I think Shiver was the first teenage werewolf book that stole my heart ;) Hunger Like No Other was my first werewolf book.

Darkfallen: Then there was Linger that took things to a whole new level and Maggie seemed to perfect the art of the evil cliffy!

Greta: Oh snap!

Darkfallen: I mean in Shiver you’re on the edge of your seat at the very end, biting your nails, tears are disobeying your cease and desist order, and then….Sam steps out of the woods, very solidly human and more importantly alive!

Greta: Squee!!

Darkfallen: But OMG in Linger you meet Cole which can I just take a moment to drool over him here?

Greta: Dude... DUDE..... DUDE!!!!

Darkfallen: Ok I’m Back!

Greta: Took you long enough!

Darkfallen: We meet Cole and we get a deeper look into Isabel. While Isabel is still the resident bitch you find you kind of like having her around, maybe you even start rooting for her a little bit. Cole intrigues you and you want more, need to know more! And Grace and Sam are as sweet as ever. You can’t help but love them, and now the tears stream down your face off and on the whole time. You cry for Isabel. You cry for Cole. You cry for Sam & Grace. And you don’t ever bother with the cease and desist order anymore. You just let it happen. Letting Maggie grab your emotions and take you where she wants you. Only she leaves you standing on a blood smeared floor in a hospital room, staring out a broken window. Glass shards crunching beneath your feet as the tears pull and mix with the blood on the floor. Your frozen there with the book in your hands staring at a wolf…staring at Grace…and inside you die a little....lots..

And now everything we have been waiting for…

All the answers we have been searching for…

Everything we have been waiting forever for…

Comes down to this!

Greta: Will there be puppies?!!!

Darkfallen: ? What?! NOES!!

Again Forever is written from four points of view and while most would say “Isn’t that confusing?” I have to tell you it’s not. Not even a little. In fact I wouldn’t want it any other way. I learned so SO much about Cole and Isabel in this book. I loved every minute that I got to spend inside their head. And yes I swoon for Cole even more now. Now that I know, that I finally understand the man behind the mask that is Cole St. Claire.

He is broken and twisted. Lost inside himself and it is killing him, but we see him grow, see him change. In the end we couldn’t have asked for a better person to be in Sam & Grace’s life.

I get it now... Why Beck picked him.

Greta: Yes sir re bobby!!! It totally makes sense now.

Darkfallen: Isabel also seems to thaw a lot more in this book and now I DO love her and I have no problem admitting it. In fact…I even cried for her.
There I said it!
And I’ll say it again. I turned my emotions back over to Maggie and she lead to a place I least expected…
Crying with Isabel on a bathroom floor.
(once you read it you’ll understand. NO I was NOT actually on a bathroom floor *winks*)

Greta: Are you sure? You sure did sound echoy the last time I called ;)

Darkfallen: Why do I always feel the need to slap Greta? lolz
Anyways where was I?
Oh yea...
Then with Sam & Grace…what can I say? Their love is so perfect, simple yet complicated, innocent, and all-consuming that you can’t help but feel it. It’s that I-will-do-anything-include-die-for-you kind of love,

Greta: That reminds me of Robin Hood. (fun fact: Greta loves "Prince of Thieves")

Darkfallen: and while in some series the author strives for that but it never quiet makes it. They always fall just short of believable…NOT here.
You believe every part of it and take it all with you when long after you have read the last page. I especially love how Grace & Sam finally handle her parents. I wanted to hug them both for that.

Greta: I loved the slow blink of Christmas lights and pizza flavored........

Darkfallen: SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
*smacks Greta*
I do want to say this though…

A long time ago I made predictions for how this series would end. I was right about so much, yet wrong about EVERYTHING!

Greta: I on the other hand had EVERYTHING wrong and not a dang thing right!

Darkfallen: With that being said I say this: From a writers point of view the ending is flawless. Most writers can’t find it in them to leave it the way Maggie did, and for that I applaud her. It’s not all nice and neat, perfectly packaged and tied with a pink bow.
It’s more like she put everything in the box, left out the tissue paper, handed you the wrapping paper, ribbon, tape, and scissors, and said “Here ya go,” and walked away.

Greta: Most awesome!

Darkfallen: From a readers point of view, my imagination is getting the better of me and I’m slowly tearing apart all of the possibilities, knowing that this is it, I’m not getting another book, but in its own way Forever leaves you with, maybe not an evil cliffy, but definitely a tormented one…

I find myself here knowing that it’s time to let them go. But I can’t and I won’t …not ever!

Greta: Let's read it again!

Darkfallen: Yes, yes lets!!!

Until next time...
*wipes tears* *cries I can't believe it's over* *throws herself in Greta's lap*
Omph! Sorry guys I gotta take care of this. Darkfallen has a hard time with goodbyes;)

Between Here and Forever

Title: Between Here and Forever
Author: Elizabeth Scott

Published: May 2011
Synopsis from Goodreads

Abby accepted that she can’t measure up to her beautiful, magnetic sister Tess a long time ago, and knows exactly what she is: Second best. Invisible.

Until the accident.

Now Tess is in a coma, and Abby’s life is on hold. It may have been hard living with Tess, but it's nothing compared to living without her.

She's got a plan to bring Tess back though, involving the gorgeous and mysterious Eli, but then Abby learns something about Tess, something that was always there, but that she’d never seen.

Abby is about to find out that truth isn't always what you think it is, and that life holds more than she ever thought it could...

I super loved this book! And I don't say that very often so you know you can trust me ;)

(note: I wouldn't trust her on everything. She cheats at put put golf)

When I got the feel of this story all I could think of was that this was a modern "Sleeping Beauty".

Abby's sister Tess WAS the bees knees. Every boy wanted to date her and all her friends wanted to be her. Mom and Dad uber loved her and Abby... well, Abby just wanted to get away from being Tess's sister for a while and just be Abby. Then on New Years Day her sister Tess gets into a car accident and lands into a coma. Now, Abby is on a mission to wake up her sister. It seems like just like before she's stuck back in Tess's shadow but this time its even harder because she's asleep.

Every day Abby visits her sister. Talks to her. Alerts the nurses and badgers the doctors when she sees the slightest movements in her eyes. And then one day she meets a boy who she thinks will have the power to wake her sister. A beautiful boy with a beautiful voice who works in the gift shop at the hospital. She convinces the boy to come up and talk to the Sleeping Beauty... and to Abby's surprise... Tess's eyes move once he speaks. We go from there on Abby's adventure in trying to wake her sister, learns about life, and realizes she is more than just a shadow of a sister in a coma.

The Characters:
Easy to love! There were a ton of times where I laughed out loud. I haven't had a book do that to me in ages. Abby almost reminded me of myself which is probably why I liked it so much. She didn't dig super model girls, was kinda pushy, and a little naive. In my opinion... that made the book for me. Super loves! I actually would have hung out with this character. There aren't many characters in books out there that I would say that about.

The Plot:
Very original and just when you think you have everything figured out they slam you with a twisty turn that will leave you thinking.

The Parents:
This book is NOT done in modern YA fashion because the parents are throughout the story. Loved that. That made the story a bit more real. And because this doesn't have any werewolf hunk a monks running around I thought it was necessary (we don't need the 'rents around when there's a wolf on the prowl hahahs)

The Cover:
This is the part that I don't get. There is no where in the story where a girl is holding a sunflower in the grass on a sunny day. Actaully this story takes place in the cooler months... so I don't get the cover at all. I probably would have made it a cracked unicorn figurine (you'll understand why after you read it)

Age Appropriate:
There isn't much cussing in this book. Nothing too off the wall. There is also not too much WOAH WOAH WOAH SHUT YOUR EYES kind of stuff. These topics are brought up but they are discussed in a fashion that will not damage your child. Think After School Special. We need more of that. I think any girl 12 and up would do fine reading this book.

The Author:
I freaking uber loves her. I've read "Living Dead Girl" and loved every minute of it and after reading this book I can't wait to read more. Elizabeth Scott is now one of my favorite authors.

A great read that will leave you wanting more...because the way it ended WILL leave you wanting more and screaming Sequel. Fingers Crossed!

Hi everyone!! Wow! It's been a booktastic two weeks and we finally wanted to show you everything we got our sticky little hands on!

GRETA'S NIGHTSTAND

Ashes, Ashes and Between Here and Forever came into my mailbox last week. La' squee! I can't tell you how thrilling it is to have a booky wook waiting for me at the end of my driveway.

The other books displayed on my nightstand came from my friend Sunny. I have already read "I Heart You. You Haunt Me". Be on the look out for the reveiw in a couple of weeks. It was most awesome! So, awesome in fact that I had to immediately squee to Darkfallen about it.

Be sure to come back tomorrow and see how I felt about "Ashes, Ashes". Get here early enough and maybe maybe you might get a surprise !!

Darkfallen's Nightstand

So I know my stack HUGE, but I had a birthday this week and...well...that means presents...which for me means books!!

Blood Law showed up on my porch via a hot UPS delivery guy. I was a total suprise and we love those so I will follow Greta with a La' Squee!! Stop back buy tomorrow to hear what I have to say about this little booky wook!

Then Greta has been on me about how awesome How It Ends and I know how much she hearts the Uglies series so when I was shopping with my bday money and found an awesome sale that would get me all 5 of these books for 10 bucks I had to have em!

And then because Greta told me that my life couldn't go on until I read I Heart You, You Haunt Me I took my butt back to the library, picked it up, and OMG she was right. My life truly would have ended if I didn't read this book. Do yourself a favor and follow us.

And THEN because my pal Greta here has introduced me to library CD rentals, thusly changing my life forever, and creating a montser, here is all the awesome music I got...in a nut shell because we don't have all day here...lolz
