Chibi Vampire, Volume 2

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 2 (Karin #2)
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2006
Synopsis from Goodreads

Kenta sees Karin at work and school, each day serving as a reminder that something about the girl with the oft-bloody nose just isn't right! He's suspicious...and he's not exactly subtle about it. Fearing that he might discover her secret, Karin decides to kill this potential problem--with kindness! She goes out of her way to do all kinds of nice things for him. But when Kenta catches her "feeding" yet again, the gig may be up. So what's a vampire girl to do? Why, take the boy home to meet her parents, of course!

HOORAY for KARIN!!

I freaking LOVER DOVERS her!! Her and her crazy crazy ways!! Her and her out of control OMGing! Her and her NOSE BLEEDS!! Loves her!!

In this book it was all about keeping Kenta (the boy she digs and the son of the mom she chomped on) super happy in high hopes that she won't splurt her blood all over the place.

Since this is the second Book I can spoil this.... Karin is like a reverse vampire and instead of chomping on people she kinda injects her blood into people to make them happy. And her blood type is for super lonley miserable people. When she chow-dows on them they get super happy and energetic. I've decided I want to be Karin's breakfast ;)

So, blah blah blah she makes Kenta happy but he keeps thinking she's either a slut puppy because she's necking with dudes (but she's really chomping on them) or maybe she's just weird or maybe she's a vampire. And so he starts following her and la-de-dah

It's super awesome!

Now, one part I felt kinda what the heckles about was ANJU. Anju is Karin's little sis that isn't vampire age yet but is getting there and carries around dolls that she talks to. In the first book she was super cute and young and sarcastic and I thought that was mega cool. But in the second book she totally looked like she sprouted Sailor Moon boobles and I was all "WHAT ON EARTH"ing her whole transformation. But when they showed her height against someone she was like a super tiny elf.

WHAT?!

But then they said her age was 11 and I could have sworn that ANJU in the first book would have been like 6 or something. I didn't dig that change but oh wells.

AND OMG! ANJU was like an emo girl in this and too smart for her age. Like younger and smarter than KARIN. Maybe even her parents! I didn't get that.

Ren (Karin's hot brother) was like in 5 panels of this book. Super waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!! I want more!! But he was all like clingy to ANJU which was kinda weird in a FORBIDDEN LOUIE and CLAUDIA sort of way. I was like "WOAH! Do they want each other?!!" It was weird.

Over all the book still was super awesome and I had a blast reading it. There are mondo funny parts sprinkled all throughout and I got way better at reading these funny books backwards. My son would be so proud of me.

I can't wait to read the next one!!

And if any of you know of more books like these please suggest them to me ;) I love love love the humor!!

No deed is too wicked for her seduction...
If they defeat the evil that surrounds them, can Mari deny Bowen when he demands her body and soul--or will she risk everything for her fierce protector?

Greta sings:
I'm the winner!
You're the loser!
I'm the WIIIINNER!!
You're the Loo-ooo-ser!
I'm the Winner!
You're the LOOSER!
Greta's the winner and you are the Looser.

Darkfallen: What the hell? Is that the Indiana Jones song?

Greta: You know it!

Darkfallen: And what exactly did you win?

Greta: Muhahahaha! Another Lykae!

Darkfallen: What does that mean?

Greta: Oh you know... just another wolfy male to add to my collection.

Darkfallen: You better not be meaning what I think you're meaning!

Greta: He's mine damn it!! Don't make me go single white female on you.

Darkfallen: What? Have you ever seen that movie?

Greta: No.. but I'm assuming I can throw lazor beams out of my crotch and blind you then run away with Bowen.

Darkfallen: OMG! Gag!! You're gonna point your crotch at me?:

Greta: And then shoot you with my crotch lazor beam.

Darkfallen: That's disgusting!

Greta: Yet effective... muhahahahhas!! And now I'll take this big hunka lykae and be gone.

Darkfallen: Not a chance sister

*chainsaw revving

Greta: Muhahahahahhaaaas!

Darkfallen: Greta, I swear to Bob if you write "crotch warming" I'll literally go ape on you.

*CROTCH WARMING

Darkfallen: That's it!

*Darkfallen walks through mirror and battle has begun.

Chainsaw rev rev and crotchy ka-pow ka-ching

Then silence and smoke and.....

Darkfallen: There! That'll teach you to NEVER point that thing at me again. Bowen! Chop chop!! Let us be gone.

Greta: NOOOOOOOOO!! wait.... I've got a spare........LACHLAIN!! Snookums!! Mama needs her puppy dog!

Darkfallen: This is BY FAR my favorite IAD book YET!!

Greta: No, its not! Hunger Like No Other is!

Darkfallen: Uh-huh, and yet you we battled over the hunky Bowen.

Greta: I'm not at all beneath fighting for a lykae! RAWR!

Darkfallen: Bowen is so damn sexy that there were times I thought I might literally go crazy from his lustiness. Like I would maybe just hop in my car, grab the next flight to Scotland, and then immediately after landing grab the closest Scot I could get my hands on and

Parental Advisory: The scenes inside Darkfallen's head contain graphic & adult content. Not suitable for all ages

*winks*

But no really in this book Kresley Cole has simply out done herself. Even if you were to strip away all of the sexy fun time, which would make me a sad panda, you are left a story jammed pack with action, suspense, and twists you could never see coming. The plot is simply perfect. How it unfolds layer, by layer, and just when you think you have it all figured out she hits you with another blind sided twist.

Greta: KA-BAM!! And RAWR!! And Oh snapple apples!!

Darkfallen: I couldn't read this book fast enough and I am already excited for when I'll get to read it again. It amazes me how at one minute I could be completely heartbroken for Bowen and hating Mari. To crying for Mari and needing to smack Bowen the next. It's all those emotions spun so well, then mixed with a passion that is sure to leave you breathless...along with a few other things *waggles eyebrows* that makes this book what it is. A paranormal romance that is sure to make you dive in over your head and never come up for air. Besides who needs air when they have a Lykae?

Greta: Fo shizzle my dizzle!!

Darkfallen: Oh for the love of BOB why can't Lykae be real? And why can't my hubs be bitten by one? *sighs*

Greta: Already ahead of ya

Darkfallen: What does that mean?

Greta: Cuz I'm super awesome and booked us for a trip to Scotland during the next full moon

Darkfallen: How did you swing that?

Greta: I started my own Super Pac.

Darkfallen: What?

Greta: YUP! If Colbert can have one then so can we!

Darkfallen: I'm not sure you understand what a super pac is.

Greta: Who cares! We got cash and we're going to the land of the lykae... let's just call it a research trip.

Darkfallen: Well, ok

Greta: YES!! Onward ! To da plane!! Remember... Lykae's like red!

Darkfallen: Not a problem

Greta: WOOF!

Vampire Wake

Title: Vampire Wake (The Kiera Hudson Series (Book Two))
Author: Tim O'Rourke
Published: September 2011
Synopsis from Goodreads

Since escaping from the Ragged Cove and finding herself suspended from the Force, Kiera Hudson is hired by the mysterious Lady Hunt to protect her sixteen-year-old daughter Kayla, from the stranger who lurks on the moors. But little does Kiera know that it is she who is really in need of protection.

Arriving at Hallowed Manor on the desolate Welsh moors, Kiera soon realises that the vampires that she has been ‘seeing’ are not the stuff of her nightmares, but are very real and closing in.

If Kiera is to escape the vampires that hunt her, she will have to discover the true identity of the bandaged man, the secret of the children’s graveyard hidden beneath the weeping willows and who or what is hiding in the ‘forbidden’ wing at Hallowed Manor…

Greta: Good gah that was awesome!!

Darkfallen: Awesome wrapped in chocolate...and then dunked in blood. *winks*

Greta: This book left me guessing up until the very end. Sure, there were a couple things that I figured out but ZOMG I was expecting this and that and this and oh THAT and THIS!! Jeepers!!!

Vampire Wake kinda had a Scooby Doo vibe to it but I guess most mystery books do. I kept expecting the Mystery Machine to pull up or for them to pull a mask off someone's head but never the less this book was most awesome!

Darkfallen: Now, hold on! Let's rewind. Rewind to the part where Kiera is suspended from the force and has been living out the last six months in work appointed therapy. Where she is constantly treated like she is as mad as the Mad Hatter for talking about the vampires and vampyrus back in Ragged Cove.

Greta: Oh yeah... I guess they should know that. COO COO!!

Kiera is back in Hobbit Land with her Mini that got pulled out of the snow in a tiny apartment or flat or whatever you want to call it and she's become super obsessed with clipping newspaper articles about things that sound vampy.

I know!! I totally gasped!! People still read newspapers? Crikey!! Who knew?!!

Darkfallen: Why was she doing all this? To find him...Luke. Searching for anything that might suggest vampires, and thus Luke there hunting them. Little did she know that she was wasting her time.

Greta: So, as Keira is kinda going through a hoarding period of her life... cuz let's face it... once you start collecting papers you might as well consider yourself a hoarder. A&E taught me that ;) Then she gets a knock on the door or... no wait.... Ummm... maybe it was a phonecall.. No... perhaps they met at a coffeshop... AHHH!! The details aren't important.... ANyways, this rich Welsh Chick comes and sees Keira and since she is Queen of the Hobbits (cuz all Welsh people are. Blessed Be Michael Sheen and his most awesome ways) she told Keira that she totes needed her to watch her youngin' over at her castly pad because she needed to go to NYC for a taping of SNL (or so I assume)

Keira isn't too sure but she's all like "Yeah, sure, Whatev'" and takes a ride in a limo with the Hobbit Queen and her driver her totally ignores her and doesn't even open the door. HOW RUDE!! (did you see that? I totally went Full House on this review)

Lady Hunt (Aka Hobbit Queen) jumps out of the car while they are on the interstate or toll road or umm... motorway or whatever the call em and says "Yeah dude! I'm gonna go jet to NYC and see my Dawgs... You have fun baby sitting my kid! And make sure that no one like spies in her bedroom! That's been happening and you know... that's kinda to catch a predatory so ummm... yeah!! Call Chris Hanson if you see any of that going on. Have fun!! Chow chow!"

Keira pulls up to a castle with a moat that probably doesn't have alligators or killer sharks with laser beams on their heads because it's too cold there. Seriously, why do places like that have moats when it's too cold to support the proper wildlife? I'll never understand that about Europe ;) And she's greeted by this Henny Penny woman (or that's how I envisioned her) named Mrs. Payne who goes all scary movie on her and is like "Stay out of the forbidden wing!". Hmmms... maybe it was more like Count Chocula... yeah, it was probably like that.

Darkfallen: Also, the place is cut off. Well if by cut off you mean no electricity, or phone lines, or tv, but cell phones work just fine. That is until you fall off a wall and lose your in a mote...So see? Here she is again without a cell phone.

Greta: Oh yeah! That's important!

So, Keira smells something foul (which I assume was Scooby Snacks) and totally wants to go check out that wing but doesn't do it because she decides to go to sleep and wakes up to find Kayla the teenage hormones of the story going through her totebag and playing with her Fruit Pod.

Keira makes friends with Kayla and throughout the story of Non-mani-pedis the adventure starts.

Darkfallen: It is really hard to give you much more without giving away all the twists and turns, and lets face it no one likes a spoil bunny. SO just know this...I thought Vampire Shift was made of awesome. Vampire Wake?! AWESOMETASTIC!! Tim O'Rourke improved a world that I didn't even know had room for improvement in the first place. Every time I thought I had something else figured out he would slap it down. There is no catching him. Tim has a way to paint a world that will leave you guessing up until the very end, and have you clawing your eyes out for more. I can't wait for the next book Vampire Hunt. I need it NOWS!!

And and Tim? If your out there reading this somewhere I just need to say one thing. A thing that only you and the others that have read this book will understand...Luke *GASP/SNIFFLES*, Potter *GASP/SWOON/HATES MYSELF FOR SWOONING*, Kiera *SIGHS*

Greta: I swear Man,.... you think you'll have all the answers and then WHAMO!!!!! The story twists and turns and flops upside down and well... that's what's awesome about this.... You think you'll pull off one mask and scream "DON KNOTTS!" but then you're screaming "SHERIFF TAYLOR" and then you scream "AHHH!!! WHo is it!!"

Darkfallen and Greta: And now for our highest of praise...

Buy it, borrow it, rent it, steal it if you have to....but you have got to...READ this book!!!
