Chibi Vampire, Volume 8 (Karin #8)

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 8 (Karin #8)
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2008
Synopsis from Goodreads

After months of little romantic development, are Karin and Kenta ready to take the plunge? The young couple has finally started holding hands in public, so Maki forces the issue by setting up a zoo date. But crazy monkeys aren't their only obstacle as a romantic rival suddenly comes out of the woodwork! Will our favorite little vampire who couldn't have what it takes to keep her boyfriend from straying?

In this volume we get to go ahhhh a couple more times.

Maki does what any besty will do and asked Kenta if he liked liked Karin.

Apparently Kenta has led a kinda sheltered life or just doesn't think of girls in that way and is starting to realize "hey dummy! maybe I do like her" and when Maki gives them both tickets to the zoo on Valentine's day he *gasp* agrees and goes with Karin where they run away from poo throwing monkeys. It was most awesome.

A new character is in the story who I'm assuming is going to make the love triangle... cuz every story needs one of those to make it believable ;) HAHAHS! I don't think the author is too keen on it. She made fun of it in her author comic .... which was most awesome. The new girl's name is Yuriya and I kinda think she has a secret but they didn't go into much detail... just gave us enough to leave us guessing... Like maybe she's a werewolf or something.

OH! And this comic brought the funny back!! Squee!! Jokes are scattered all throughout this book and I really really enjoyed that.

Chibi Vampire, Volume 7 (Karin #7)

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 7 (Karin #7)
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2008
Synopsis from Goodreads

Her feelings laid bare, Karin must decide what to do after being rejected by Kenta. But lest you think we're headed for tragedy, know that there's hope for these two wayward lovers yet! For love is nothing if not rocky and often irrational, and one day's heartbreak could feed right into another day's bliss. For Karin and Kenta, it's always been love at first bite, and it just may be the bite of a certain little vampire that saves the day!

This volume is by far my most favorite right now.

We totally learn even more about Kenta and his estranged dad and where they are going to go from there. Kenta's Dad comes into the story and is looking for him and his mom. As is a detective that his grandma hired. Kenta's gma is a royal snob and we find out that she is basically the reason why the family never had a happily ever after. But there's a tad bit more to it that I didn't see coming.

As for Karin and Kenta updates omg... the next best thing to kissing happened and eeee!! a couple of nibble nibbles.

I felt the artwork in this was most awesome and I really really enjoyed the author's comic strip about how she wanted to murder editor. I love those little things at the end.

I'm looking forward to the next volume and hope with the nibble de nibble zomg will bring Karin and Kenta into a young love budding relationship that will make me go squee!!

Chibi Vampire, Volume 6 (Karin #6)

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 6 (Karin #6)
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2007
Synopsis from Goodreads

Karin's crush of Kenta may be finally be revealed. But things take a turn when Kenta's father seeks the whereabouts of Kenta and Karin with the assistance of a detective. A case of mistaken identity causes KarinĂ¢€™s most explosive nose bleed ever! Karin's crush continues but now it is a forbidden one.

In this volume we mainly focus on Ketna's mom and da da da..... the disappearance of Kenta's dad. So, we basically get a good idea of what happened to the family.

Kenta's Mom is starting to figure out the Kenta and Karin have feelings towards one another but those dang youngsters keep denying it. DANG IT!! Kiss her already!!

Not alot of REN in this one or ANJU. They come in from time to time but not a whole lot to comment on.

Karin's Mom and Dad learn how Kenta affects Karin and they forbid him to see her and also her to see him... which just means they totally want to see one another... or at least Karin does ;)

OH! And the ending is a freaking major cliffy which would have had me screaming if I had not already gotten the next book from the library.

***Recently, I went to Tokyo Pop's website and learned that.... TOKYO POP is no more. This saddens me. Apparently they closed up shop in LA in MAY and ahhhs... why am I always late to the party? I got on a message board that says GERMANY might continue to release the titles but it makes me wonder if they will be translated into English. I really hope they do!! If anyone has any information about this please let me know. I'm mighty curious and can't seem to find any answers that make sense.

Chibi Vampire, Volume 5 (Karin #5)

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 5 (Karin #5)
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2007
Synopsis from Goodreads

Karin continues to come to terms with her feelings for Kenta, but her flirting will have to be put on hold for now. Karin's grandmother is in town, and that's enough to put her entire family into a panic. Elda Marker is no silver-haired, cookie-baking matriarch. She's a hot and heavy vampire vixen with a taste for blood, but a distaste for everything else having to do with the human race. So how can Karin possibly tell her about her new human almost-sorta-not-quite-boyfriend? It's going to be one freaky family reunion that you're not going to want to miss! Also in this volume, get a glimpse into the Maaka/Marker family past in a side story that focuses on grandma and grandpa!

In this volume we meet an old member of the family.

If you look at the cover you'll probably think the exact same thing as me. That that is either Karin's cousin or maybe a besty or something. They look very similar.

But nopes... while its not a besty it IS a member of the family.... HOLY SNIKEYS!! that's her grandma!!

Grandma has been asleep for a long long time and well, Karin's mom put big boulders ontop of G-ma's coffin but that all changed when they had an earthquake and she was able to get out.

G-ma is really into REN which was kinda creepy because they look the same age and ahhh... she actually groped Karin's boobs and told her they were like big cantaloupe's bulging out of her collar. So, we are then led to believe that Karin got her boobles from her Mom (because G-ma is Henry's Dad)

An even weirder note is at the very back of the book it actually tells G-ma's and Karin's bra CUP size. I mean... why is that necessary? I figure someone has noticed this and bugged the artist about it so she must enjoy making fun of the fact that Karin's boobs are freaking HUGE!

Besides playing "Where did those boobs come from" we continue on with Kenta and Karin's "I really don't Love you" storyline when you know they do.
They have a cultural festival at school.
Henry and Calera's (Karin's mom and Dad) story of how they met is told
and Henry and Calera go to a vampire convention

It wasn't the best story line but I said that 2 books ago so that must mean the next one will be better. I'm really happy I checked a bunch of them out from the library. They're a fun easy read and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE looking at the pictures :)

Chibi Vampire, Volume 4 (Karin #4)

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 4 (Karin #4)
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2007
Synopsis from Goodreads

Karin's crush on Kenta has taken a turn for the worse. She seems to be falling deeper into the friend zone. Her monthly woes are putting a damper on her life. Karin must come to terms with the fact her desire to kiss Kenta may turn into a bite.

This volume was definately better than the last but remember how I mentioned that Karin's boobs have like grown into bowling balls?

Well, her boss like totally latched onto those puppes and told her to keep up the good work with her big beautiful boobies.

Ummm... yeah.... while that was odd that just proves my point .... I think... I can't be the only one that notices that. I mean... they're gonna poke my eye out while reading hahahs!

So, in this volume Karin and Kenta seem to be getting that teenage confusion syndrome when two people dig one another but they don't want to admit it.

Also, We get to follow Ren around who's still after Kenta's mom and omg he's called a sexual predator. I'm not sure if that's a translation mistake or if they are really wanting to get him on "To CAtch a PRedator." but ewwgles!! They needs to tames that down.

In my opinion this series is starting to get a tad bit more grown up. I don't think the little ones should read it anymore... but I guess since this is rated 16+ its definately rated right.

The last chapter was very neat. We got to find out how Ren became a vampire and how he knew that chick from the love hotel.

I'm kind of curious when the NOVELS come into play. There was a reference to one in a pannel. I kind of thought they needed to be read AFTER the series. I guess I will check into them to see what side stories I'm missing. I hope the haunted house story is in it!!

Still a great series but I no longer would let the little ones read it :)

Chibi Vampire, Volume 3 (Karin #3)

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 3 (Karin #3)
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2006
Synopsis from Goodreads

As Kenta helps Karin study for her school exam, the two start becoming closer. But when Maki catches sight of them and asks if they are going out, Karin protests! She needs time, especially when she feels like she's starting to overcome her blood issues around Kenta. But a new problem is about to surface...and the odor is enough to make a vampire run to daylight!

I'm still very much enjoying this series but this was probably more filler than the last 2 books. Hopefully that means the next book will be fantastic because we have the extra stuff out of the way.

We got to follow Kenta's mom around the LOVE HOTEL in this volume. As she folds sheets, drags an old school girl uniform out of the trash, and befriends a teenage run-away prostitute.

We also followed Anju to school where she found out where Boogy, her lost doll, had gone off to. OH! And there is a fantastic story that revolves around Boogy. I really enjoyed that. It was very impressive and original. It actually would make for an awesome book!

Karin is still trying to stay away from Kenta but his mom is starting to loose her mojo so it might be time to do the bite bite again. BUt oh noes! Ren is actually digging the back to her old self mom and is thinking about bite biting her just for himself.

OH WHAT WILL THEY DO!

I was pleased that there was more Ren action in this book and even though he was still close to ANJU it didn't give me that FORBIDDEN SPIDEY SENSE i had in the last volume.

THe problems I had with this book is well.. Karin's boobs have gotten bigger. Like what the duce happened?!! They look engourged and stuff!! I'm hoping the pop those sweater puppies in the next volume but I've seen the cover and I actually think they might even be BIGGHER! AHHS!

Also, there is some side boob drawing action. No nipplage but just be warned if you know... you have little ones reading it.

There's also a tad bit of cussing that seemed to be out of place in my opinion...but hey... I guess that's trendy.

All in all !! Nosebleeds are great and creepy dolls with knives are even better!

A great series!

Chibi Vampire, Volume 2

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 2 (Karin #2)
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2006
Synopsis from Goodreads

Kenta sees Karin at work and school, each day serving as a reminder that something about the girl with the oft-bloody nose just isn't right! He's suspicious...and he's not exactly subtle about it. Fearing that he might discover her secret, Karin decides to kill this potential problem--with kindness! She goes out of her way to do all kinds of nice things for him. But when Kenta catches her "feeding" yet again, the gig may be up. So what's a vampire girl to do? Why, take the boy home to meet her parents, of course!

HOORAY for KARIN!!

I freaking LOVER DOVERS her!! Her and her crazy crazy ways!! Her and her out of control OMGing! Her and her NOSE BLEEDS!! Loves her!!

In this book it was all about keeping Kenta (the boy she digs and the son of the mom she chomped on) super happy in high hopes that she won't splurt her blood all over the place.

Since this is the second Book I can spoil this.... Karin is like a reverse vampire and instead of chomping on people she kinda injects her blood into people to make them happy. And her blood type is for super lonley miserable people. When she chow-dows on them they get super happy and energetic. I've decided I want to be Karin's breakfast ;)

So, blah blah blah she makes Kenta happy but he keeps thinking she's either a slut puppy because she's necking with dudes (but she's really chomping on them) or maybe she's just weird or maybe she's a vampire. And so he starts following her and la-de-dah

It's super awesome!

Now, one part I felt kinda what the heckles about was ANJU. Anju is Karin's little sis that isn't vampire age yet but is getting there and carries around dolls that she talks to. In the first book she was super cute and young and sarcastic and I thought that was mega cool. But in the second book she totally looked like she sprouted Sailor Moon boobles and I was all "WHAT ON EARTH"ing her whole transformation. But when they showed her height against someone she was like a super tiny elf.

WHAT?!

But then they said her age was 11 and I could have sworn that ANJU in the first book would have been like 6 or something. I didn't dig that change but oh wells.

AND OMG! ANJU was like an emo girl in this and too smart for her age. Like younger and smarter than KARIN. Maybe even her parents! I didn't get that.

Ren (Karin's hot brother) was like in 5 panels of this book. Super waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!! I want more!! But he was all like clingy to ANJU which was kinda weird in a FORBIDDEN LOUIE and CLAUDIA sort of way. I was like "WOAH! Do they want each other?!!" It was weird.

Over all the book still was super awesome and I had a blast reading it. There are mondo funny parts sprinkled all throughout and I got way better at reading these funny books backwards. My son would be so proud of me.

I can't wait to read the next one!!

And if any of you know of more books like these please suggest them to me ;) I love love love the humor!!

Chibi Vampire Book 1

Title: Chibi Vampire, Volume 1
Author: Yuna Kagesaki
Published: 2006
Type of book: Comic
Synopsis from Goodreads

Karin is a cute little girl who also happens to be a vampire...with a twist. Once a month, she experiences intense bleeding from her nose--we're talking gushers! In other words, she's a vamp with blood to spare, so rather than stealing blood from humans she actually gives her blood to them. If done right, this can be an extremely positive experience that benefits the "victim" as much as the vampire. The problem is that Karin never seems to do things right

This book was most awesome and super duper CUTE!!!!

I must admit that this is my very first Manga Book so I had no idea that you have to read it backwards.

I picked it up from the library the other day

(forcing my son come in with me because even though he thinks he's super cool it would not be super cool to have to take him to the hospital because he roasted in the car while waiting on me to get my books) and my son is the one that told me "OH!! YOU got a manga book!"

and after I was like "How do youknow that word?"

I was then taught that I'm kinda lame and all kids know what manga is and that you read them backwards.

"SOO, that's why the barcode is on the front?!!" Yeah, he totally thought I was lame.

I didn't know what to expect from this. Sailor Moon skirts? A bunch of funny names that I don't know how to pronounce? No clue!

Well, there were Sailor Moon skirts and funny names but there was also humor! THis book (at times) is hilarious and I'm shockle dockle that a dude wrote this. He did such an awesome job making Karin sound right. I had no problems with it at all!! Most awesome!!

So, the thing with KARIN is her family are vampires and while she's a vampire too she really hasn't tapped into her INNER-Vampire. SO, she's different. Like she goes to school and digs the sun and has friends and only munches on people once a month (which I thought was hilarious!!) but has these killer nose bleeds when she da da da.... finds the kinda nom she wants to sink her fangs into.

That's when we meet Kenta Usui. He's transfer student who lives with is mom and starts meets this really weird girl who keeps running from him (<-- that would be Karin) and he just totally can't figure her out.

Karin's family is very very interesting

Mom reminds me of a Karen Walker mixed with Jessica Rabbit with a naughty librarian vibe going on. YOu betcha!

Dad is well... I don't know. He seems to be Mom's slave. I guess he's one of those "Yes Dear" guys

Ren is Karin's brother and think LESTAT from Interview with the Vampire. OMG! More pictures please! He's also a regular stuf muffin... wait... Lestat is a sud muffin... Oh wells... you'll like him.

And Annju is Karin's little sister who has not become a full vampire but can do cool stuff like control bats and erase people's minds. She is most awesome and creepy and funny... but don't tell her she's funny because I think that would annoy her. Oh yeah... and she's like a little kid which makes her interactions with Karin even more hilarious.

I'm totally kicking myself for not getting the next book from the library. That means I'll have to wait a week.

The only problem I had with this book was getting used to reading it from right to left... but it doesn't take long to master that ninja skill.

If you've never read manga and want to try it out I think this is the most perfect book.

OH! And there's a rating on it too. It says 16 and up and is labeled as comedy/horror... But I would totally let my 14 year old son read this. (cuz apparently he probably already has lolz)
