A thrilling tale of adventure, romance, and one girl's unyielding courage through the darkest of nightmares.

Epidemics, floods, droughts--for sixteen-year-old Lucy, the end of the world came and went, taking 99% of the population with it. As the weather continues to rage out of control, and Sweepers clean the streets of plague victims, Lucy survives alone in the wilds of Central Park. But when she's rescued from a pack of hunting dogs by a mysterious boy named Aidan, she reluctantly realizes she can't continue on her own. She joins his band of survivors, yet, a new danger awaits her: the Sweepers are looking for her. There's something special about Lucy, and they will stop at nothing to have her.

You know when you read a description of a book and you just squee out an AWESOME?

Well, that's what I did when I noticed this book on somebody's Waiting on Wednesday.

It looked perfect for me. Kinda a cross between Survivor Man meets I am Legend mixed with maybe some teenage butterfly Day After Tomorrow kisses.

I mean... I uber love disaster books and depressing books and hard knock life down on your luck but in the end it will probably work out kind of books.

This book... well, ... it totally WASN'T what I thought it would be.

The descriptions were way to heavy, the characters were a bit bland, and quite frankly once I got to page 90 I still didn't care what was going to happen I just wanted this book to be over.

I hate it when you find book like that.

You have to question yourself. Should I force myself into reading the rest? Will it get any better? If I died tomorrow will I be satisfied that this is the very last book I read? If I don't give a sparkly review will the publishing company who sent me this book get uber ticked?

I thought about it. I even talked to a bud about it... and she told me to knock it off, throw that book down, and find something I like.

So, kids... this book totally wasn't for me. I couldn't get into it. I tried like hells bells but it was just uber bland and full of yawns on my end. It seems like a great idea for a movie but in book form is was just "meh".

But don't take my word on it. Go snag it from the library and decide for yourself.

Want my copy? Then the first person to say SNAG in the comment box gets it!! That's right... just say SNAG! and we'll be in touch (providing that you leave me your email address lolz or any way to get in contact with you). I'll send you this book and you can tell me if I'm wrong or right. Remember... I'm the picky pick who didn't dig Hunger Games.

GASP!

Just yesterday on our IMM we had several bloggers raving about how much they lived this book! I would read it myself but I am buried my own stack of Review Copies at the moment so I just can't get to this one. But we really would love to hear what you think about it!

  3. I really want to read this book! It's as if the author knows about our future and knows that it will be hard in the end times. Suspense is what I love. I have added this to my new list to read.
